International Alliance of Inhabitants Habitat International Coalition Local Autorithies Forum

A European States General (EGSH) preparatory meeting was held in Bobigny (France) on February 2nd with about sixty people from various countries in attendance. A technical secretariat was set up. This text sets out the confirmed fixtures which will be held at the European parliament in Brussels, on November 5th and 6th, 2007.

This is an appeal for the unity of urban social movements which strive to give concrete expression to economic, social and cultural rights, as well as housing rights in particular. It is launched by the organizations and networks of inhabitants, co-operatives, tenants’ unions, community centres, original populations and committees for housing rights all over the world.

A convergence meeting of urban social movements playing a role in the right housing and to the city was held in Nairobi under the framework of the WSF, jointly proposed by the HIC and IAI.

UN-HABITAT’s Advisory Group on Forced Evictions launched its second report during the 21st Session of the Governing Council.

Since international solidarity is called for, the International Alliance of Inhabitants (IAI), in agreement with CHRA, and able to propose better coordination than other international networks, has relaunched the Zero Evictions Campaign.
